As part of the MUPP curriculum, UIC Masters in Urban Planning and Policy students are required to develop a plan. Territory collaborated with UIC students to develop a plan across the Austin community area. The cohort of students divided Austin into five focus areas. Territory youth provided their knowledge and lived experiences to give insight about the community. Over the development of the plan, UIC students met with Territory youths over the course of weekly virtual check ins and two engagement events. UIC students brought their planning expertise to create policy recommendations and youths used their lived experiences to critique these recommendations. UIC CUPPA will continue to develop these plans and submit them to the 29th ward alderman, Chris Taliaferro, and the 37th ward alderwoman, Emma Mitts.
